• Roof compatibility: For inclined roofs with noncombustible asphalt shingles that meet building codes. NOT for metal or steel roofs. Metal or plastic gutters and downspouts are compatible; this does not mean metal roofing is compatible.
• Cable and cord lengths: Includes 120 ft of heating cable PLUS a separate 6 ft (1.8 m) non-heating power cord with a grounded 120V plug. The 6 ft cord is additional to the stated heating length. Installation clips and spacers are included.
• Ice-dam prevention: Constant output of 5 watts per foot helps maintain a drainage path for meltwater. Install before snow and ice form. This kit is not designed to clear an entire roof of snow or remove existing ice dams.
• Installation limits: Do not use on flat, wood-shingle, rubber, slate, stone, ceramic or tar-and-gravel roofs, or wooden gutters/downspouts. Do not cut, splice, overlap or cross the heating cable. Follow the included installation manual.
• Power connection: Use a grounded, GFCI-protected 120V outdoor receptacle within reach of the 6 ft power cord. Do not use an extension cord. Check circuit capacity for the selected cable length.
